2004 Preseason Draft
6 teams will be eligible for playoff contention. Playoff entry is earned by the top 2 finishers in each division. The remaining 2 playoff spots will go to the 2 teams with the highest remaining overall record. A tied overall record will be resolved by head-to-head record followed by total points scored in head-to-head games. If one "wild card" team comes from each division, then they will remain in their origional division. If the teams with the 2 best remaining records are from the same division, then these 2 teams will be seeded with the strongest of the 2 drafting with the division having the weakest division winner.
Playoff Draft Order is determined by lane choice in the order of regular season finish. The team that finished 1st in each division gets choice of draft slot 1 thru 3. Draft format is head to tail like the regular season draft. As every other year, SAFFL Playoff team owners will select players from the 12 NFL teams that made the NFL playoffs in the following
quantities:
3 QB
5 RB
5 WR
2 TE
3 K
2 D/ST players
This results in a 20 round draft.
There is NO trading or free agency once the playoffs start!!!
Scores are cumulative for the Wild Card, Division, and Conference Championship rounds of the playoffs, and teams up to that point remain in their current division. Point values will have a base value the same as the regular season. In addition, point values increase by 1X each round further in the playoffs. Teams get credit for all scoring by every player on his/her roster for the duration of the playoffs, so no starting lineups are necessary. As NFL teams are eliminated from the playoffs, you will lose players. You should draft accordingly. At the conclusion of the Conf. Championship Round, a Division Champion will represent his/her division in SAFFL Bowl VIII. The league championship is one game, head to head, starting at zero; the winner is the SAFFL Bowl Champion.
And, defense/special teams players are individual players listed on the 12 NFL playoff team?s rosters listed at a defense position or as a kick or punt returner on the team?s depth chart. Remember that scoring categories for these are Def TD?s, int?s, sacks, fumble recoveries and such.
